What it is: A cerumenolytic ear drop used to soften and disperse hardened earwax in the external auditory canal. Supplied as an over‑the‑counter medicine.
Active ingredients & how it works: Contains urea hydrogen peroxide in a glycerol base. The peroxide component releases oxygen when it contacts earwax, helping to break the wax into smaller, softer fragments. The glycerol base acts as a humectant and softener, making the wax easier to remove naturally or by professional cleaning.
Indications: For the softening and removal of hardened or impacted earwax causing symptoms such as blocked sensation, reduced hearing, tinnitus, or discomfort. Often used prior to microsuction or irrigation to facilitate wax clearance.
Age range: Licensed for adults, children and the elderly. In practice, young children should be treated under medical or pharmacist advice.
